How To Create A Blog - The Best Way To Create Your Blog

Even if you're worried about doing something "technical" on the internet, it's surprisingly easy to create a blog for your personal use or to promote something for profit.

Far and away the best way to create a blog is to get some web space yourself (if you've already got a web hosting account, you've already done this part) and use your host's one click install option to put on a Wordpress blog.

Why create a Wordpress blog? Because it's free and it's pretty much the industry standard for blogs. There are lots of add-ons that you can use and there are lots of free blog templates (which Wordpress calls themes) that you can use to differentiate your blog from the thousands of other blogs out there.

Which means that the first thing you should do when you've created your brand new blog is personalize it.

Start with the blog theme.

The standard Wordpress theme works OK but it's a bit boring.

You can get "under the hood" and customize the look and feel of your blog from your Wordpress control panel but it is a lot quicker, easier and more reliable to simply choose a new blog template from the huge number available. Then you just upload it to your web space (use the file upload option in your web hosting control panel or, if you're feeling brave, an FTP program). Once it's uploaded, Wordpress will recognize this and will offer you the option to change your theme to the new one you've just installed.

Take the time to go through the various menu options on Wordpress. If this is the first time you've created a blog this way it may take you 20 or 30 minutes. Once you start to become a blog veteran, you'll get this process down to a couple of minutes.

Unless you have a pressing need to keep them, delete the Blogroll links that come with every installation of Wordpress.

Put your own blogroll there instead - this is a great place to discretely put some affiliate links and start earning your blog some cash.

Change the default "Permalinks" to something the search engines prefer. If you're not sure what to do, just select the "date and name based" option.

Activate Akismet anti spam.

Start creating the first post on your brand new blog.

Congratulations! You've just created a blog!

BlogRush - Fresh and New Flavors

Blog Rush will soon introduce flavors on their widget.

    MORE NEWS…

It seems that some people are trying to call BlogRush a “pyramid scheme” or stating “there’s just no way the future impressions will ever be able to be served based on the promises of what referrals will bring. The math is impossible like other schemes of this kind.”

Anyone that is saying this doesn’t understand how BlogRush works…

EVERY SINGLE IMPRESSION GETS REWARDED FOR *THAT* IMPRESSION AS IT HAPPENS. There is no “promise” of future rewards based on referral activity today. Each and every impression of the widget (and impression of the 5 headlines per widget) is rewarded AS IT HAPPENS. And when all the math is said and done, it also leaves 1 out of every 10 headline spaces left-over for BlogRush to use to monetize the service. So apparently some people think it’s all based on false promises that the network will eventually “catch up” and pay rewards in the future. This just isn’t the case. Every single impression that occurs is calculated and rewarded to the generations ‘above’ — that’s how the math has to work.

We’re working hard to move to the 100% Manual Review Process as quickly as possible, and other improvements.

As I’ve now said many times, our SOLE FOCUS is helping our members generate quality, targeted traffic. So we’re hard at work to make that happen.

7 Top Ways To Get More Traffic Now!

To succeed as marketer, you must direct meaningful traffic to your website.

No matter how well designed or interesting your site is, it is a waste of time if no one sees it.

In the initial stages of your business, getting traffic is not easy with the steep competition of thousands of web sites all trying to get their message out there. There is hope, though, according to successful marketers. The following seven methods, applied consistently, can mean a great increase in the quality and quantity of traffic to a site:

    1.) Utilize Search Engines

Use search engines to your advantage. You need to have your web site appear near the top of the results, ahead of other websites offering similar content to gain the maximum benefit from a search engine. How is this accomplished? See 2.

    2.) Popularity Linking

Your site must already be attracting a considerable amount of traffic to achieve high search engine results. One method for accomplishing this is by connecting to other relevant sites via links. These "popularity links" help drive traffic, and if targeted to the correct search queries they can boost your search engine ranking.

Link popularity always starts with finding web sites that are similar but do not compete with your own. You would contact the website owner and request a link to your site. You would, at the same time, offer a reciprocal link which would advertise their website on one of your pages.

    3.) Writing Articles

Writing your own rich content articles on topics targeted to your audience helps promote your web site by increasing the number of popularity links coming to your site (see 2) as well as attracting interested readers. Your articles can be placed on other sites, in ezines, or even in newsletters. Always be sure to ad a source box with a link going back to your site.

    4.) Joint Venture Marketing

Joint venture marketing, a marketing relationship in which two individuals cooperate to help promote each other, is also an effective way to promote a product or service. Joint venture agreements can also include swapping ads and exchanging links. Both parties benefit as they reach a wider customer base fairly quickly.

    5.) Joining Affiliate Programs

By joining an affiliate program as a merchant, you can get others to market your site. You will need your own product to start your own program, but this can be accomplished through the use of private label content or product development ventures. Even a small-scale affiliate program can help direct significant traffic to your site.

6.) Creating A List Of Subscribers

A subscriber list is a valuable asset for any marketer. Using an autoresponder or a personalized newsletter to promote your site will help you to build a repeat visitor base, providing direct marketing opportunities for now and in the future.

    7.) Understand Your Market

Different niches need to be promoted in different ways. Use the techniques described up until this point to reach people who will be interested. You need to figure out who your target market is and how will you treat them once they get to your site? This will affect everything on your site including your ad copy and even the colors you use.

Use as many strategies as possible to generate targeted traffic. Relying on search engines is obviously important but there are numerous other ways to generate traffic. Combining these methods will maximize the traffic you get.

    Google Adsense Best Practices

When selecting the size of your Google Adsense code the 300x250 is by far the best performer. This square box works best when placed in the middle of the content towards the top. I commonly place the 300x250 ad block under my title and on top of my first paragraph. Sometimes I put the 300x250 ad block under the first paragraph if it is short but never below the second paragraph. Banners and skyscrapers may look better on your page but will perform much worse than the 300x250. Remember why you’re publishing your content; you want to make money not look pretty.

When selecting colors for your Google Adsense ad block you want to blend the ad into your page. The best practice is to make the ads look like content so users will be interested in clicking the ad. I’ve had great success using a basic white background and black color text on my pages. I then use the default blue for my Adsense text and use “White” for the border of the ad block. This causes your square to look like it has no border thus blending it into your content. If done right your Google Adsense block should look like you put links on your page your visitors might be interested in.

Google allows you to assign a “Channel” to your ad block so you can track the success. Be sure to assign each new site or subject a unique channel so you can tell what subjects are popular and pay well. Using channels is also a good way to test various ad colors and sizes but if you use the 300x250 you can generally be assured that you’re using the most successful size.

When starting out with Google Adsense it will be very tempting to click your own ads, some do this because they are interested in the ad but some are cheating. In both cases you will likely get kicked out of the Google Adsense program if you click your own ads.

Affiliate Programs – The Fast Track to Wealth

Remember the day when you made the ultimate decision to change your life? Yes, it was the day when you decided to start your own home business. Gosh, I remember the anxiety when I uploaded my very first web site, waiting for something to happen. It’s like going onto a stage and performing in front of a large crowd.

Ok, what has this to do with affiliate programs and how to make money with them? Not much other than this is the primary reason why people spending money online. Emotions are the number one selling factor, period. And newbie web masters are loaded with emotions.

When you started your home business, did you have a product to sell? Neither did I. That’s why affiliate programs are perfect for startup home businesses. In a nutshell, an affiliate sells products from somebody else and keeps a commission from each sale. An affiliate id responsible for all the advertising and only gets paid whenever there’s a sale.

Take a break and think about this for a minute. Every day there are thousands of people online, searching for products and ideas to make money with. They know that there’s big money to make and they are eager to get started. When you started your home business it probably never crossed your mind to sell your own products and to run your own affiliate program.

If you’re in the online business for a while with mediocre results it is time to switch sides. Why should you carry most of the risk with your advertisement spending with less than satisfactory sales results? Not to mention that you’re at the mercy of somebody else’s reliability to send you your hard earned money.

If you don’t have a product to sell, go out there and search for products with master resale rights. This will grant you the exclusive rights to sell the product and keep 100% of the profits. Selling the product through affiliates doesn’t violate this, because you’re paying your affiliates for the advertising efforts, the final sale is still made by you.

Of course there are a million products with master resale rights available. Choose your product wisely. You don’t want to start an affiliate program with products that are already over marketed and maybe available for free or as part of a bonus package. This takes some time and research, but it is well worth the effort.

One source is to research the public domain sector and compile your own information product. There are numerous publications available on this topic. Another source is to join a membership program that sells master resale rights products. Make sure that they offer unique products and check their rules. Many offer a trial membership, take advantage of this.

Once you have your product start your affiliate program. Don’t join one of the many services that offer affiliate program services for a monthly fee. Here’s why. Having thousands of affiliates advertising your product is a great thing. Having thousands of free links to your web site is priceless.

Create as many advertising samples for your affiliates as possible. Have these samples point to different entry points to your web site. Banners are the worst advertising tools, but newbie web masters love them. They are easy to implement. What do you care, you got your free link to your website. Make sure that you use search engine friendly affiliate links. Affiliate links with a “?” are recognized as such. Better are the affiliate links that look like a directory structure. The easy way to implement this is to use PHP as your language of choice.

Guess what will happen after a few months running your own affiliate program from your website? Your own web site will skyrocket in rankings on any search engine, because you got so many links to your web site without having a link farm on your own. This is every web masters dream. Now you have a choice. You either aggressively promote your affiliate program or you promote your products. Either way you win.

If you’re still skeptical, go to Google or Yahoo and search for links pointing to your favorite affiliate program. Simply type ‘links:’ and your affiliate program’s domain name into the search field. Make sure you don’t have any blanks. This will return all the websites that are linking back to this affiliate program. Check out the number on the right upper corner where it says ‘Results 1 – 10 of about x’. x stands for the total number of links. Now do the same for your website. Hmm, you got nothing? Well, that’s the difference. I hope you see the power of this by now.

Before you go out there and slab together your own affiliate program. Do your homework and research as much as possible. You want to get it right the first time.

    Good luck to you all,

    Peter Dobler

Smarten Up, Marketers. It’s a Personality Contest Out There!

I have a friend who’s a real rascal. He wangles his way into places he doesn’t belong better than an A-list celeb thronged by his thick-muscled posse. He slips out of trouble like a greased David Blaine. This guy’s smart but he’s no Mensa grad. He’s not that good-looking, and he’s not well-connected. The tools of his trade? His genuineness and natural charm. He’s likeable. Watching him work is remarkable. It’s not so much what he says – it’s all about how he says it. And don’t think he’s some butt-smoocher. I’ve seen him tell people to take a long walk off a short pier, and they look forward to the trip!

My friend is a poster boy for reminding us, as we craft strategies and executions for our advertising campaigns, that brand character can be even more persuasive than the actual selling message. It’s hard to be emotionally committed to an attribute. Features don’t beget followers.

A great deal of strategic development time is focused on getting the message right: delivering the single-minded relevant point to the target. We task it with being original, unique. Ownable. I was schooled that this was by far the most critical element in strategic positioning because it was where the big idea dwelled. Well, according to Jack Trout’s latest missive in “Forbes,” there are no new ideas anymore. We are blowing time -- and our clients’ money -- with the over-reliance on the rationale. (www.forbes.com/2006/09/13/jack-trout-on-marketing-biz-cx_jt_0915minds.html)

At my advertising agency, NYCA (http://www.nyca.com), we grow our clients’ businesses with inspired ideas. We know it’s important to concentrate on the brainy quotient, sure, but we’ve learned to heavy-up on the tone, the manner, the body. That’s where brand personality comes strolling in, dressed for success, making the everlasting first impression before he ever speaks an SAT word.

We can learn from a master teacher: Apple. You wouldn’t know it from their raving user base but these are machines, for cripes sake. Plastic, wires, glass and tiny pieces soldered together to help create pictures and words, remember them, and connect. But I know MAC users who would rather go graphic-less in public than fraternize with a PC. They would revolt, feeling like they are betraying their friend. The machine seems to understand them, empower them – but this is lunatic devotion. A MAC has no feelings (yet!) so why does it stir them up? And, techies, please don’t blog/flog me with, “It’s the operating system.” That’s just a microportion of the emotional equation. To see it another way: I’d venture that PC people could more easily – emotionally speaking - move to Mac than the other way around. They aren’t as devoted to IBM and the like as MAC users are to Apple. IBM just doesn’t have the magnetic personality of Apple.

The Apple personality was brilliantly reverse-designed. They may have built the machine first but they sold the personality first. So the initial contact is the embrace of the upbeat, creative, change-the-world brand character before you ever boot up. It’s in the logo. And at every touch point, the personality is true. We feel the easiness in their open, friendly, clean-lined stores, enjoy the good-natured yet competitive TV ads, groove with (not just listen to) their iPod communications, hug their black-jeaned, bespectacled wonderboy leader. Personality perfectly designed.

Barbara Coulon, vice president of trends for market researcher Youth Intelligence, says that surveys show, "Apple has a clear brand personality. People feel like they are part of a tribe. There are a lot of people who are passionate about it. It's sort of a cult brand. Apple is a way of life." (http://www.macnewsworld.com/story/40151.html)

So study up and invent a brand message that’s university smart. But invest some creative muscle in developing the brand’s personality so it’s genuinely persuasive.

Great brands have defined personalities within their categories but they’re not exclusive to their sector, so you can easily borrow inspiration. Here are two examples of one personality statement: Down-to-earth, family-oriented, genuine, and sincere. Now, who would that be - Coke or Pepsi? Easy. But pour a glass of each and stand an inch from them - you couldn’t tell the difference. Brown sugar water is brown sugar water.

Take the same words for a car: Volvo or BMW? Again, no doubt. Because their brand personalities distinguish them as much as their safety or handling claims. Better.

A well-developed personality has the power to engage from afar, stir deep feelings, and make it all up-close and personal. And that’s the flashpoint where interest moves into buying, and buying into loyalty.

You know, maybe my rascal friend is a genius after all.

    Writing for the Travel Web

In this modern world, where more and more people can afford international travel, knowledge of the country to be visited is very important.

Thus persons who are knowledgeable about a particular country should try to write interesting articles, outlining not only the attractions of the country, city etc, but also any downfalls, dangers, etc. that people may experience. A bit of honesty goes a long way to prevent unhappy incidents while on holiday! For example, avoid Such-and-such Street as you may be mugged... don't go near Such-and-such Street as this is the red light district, etc.

Let people know what the most important attractions are, giving a little history if possible. Advise them on modes of travel in the particular country - whether it is more convenient to use public transport, or rent a vehicle. If language may be a problem, advise on buying a phrase book for common sayings in that particular country.

Other important things to bear in mind when writing a travel article and submitting to the article web sites:

    1. Check your facts: make sure what you are stating in the article is, in fact, true.

    2. Check your spelling, grammar and punctuation: there is nothing worse than badly spelled or worded text, especially for webmasters who wish to use your article as content on their websites! If at all worried, or if English is not your home language, have your article proof read by an English speaking person to check whether all is in order.

    3. Don't make the article too short, or even too long - an ideal guide is to use between 500-1000 words for a comfortably readable article. If you have a lot to say, maybe split the information over several articles, i.e. part 1, part 2, etc.

    4. No plagiarism! i.e. do not copy someone else's work into your article.

    5. Web site links: bear in mind that people with similar web sites to your own will want to publish your article as content. Do not pepper your article with several links within the body of the text - this will put people off using the content! They don't particularly want your article to take potential business away from them immediately. Try to use just one link in the resource box, or the "about the author" section at the bottom of your article.

I hope this helps you in producing top quality articles for the travel web.

A Better Way To Profits On eBay

Everyone knows that eBay is ideal for buying and selling items. But, did you know that there is an even easier way to earn, big time, on eBay?

It can be done via a drop shipping web site and order line. You buy a ready made website and either use it or sell it on again, via eBay, only for a higher price than you purchased it.

    Buy low, sell high.

To get in on this little known act you’ll need to dig deep into www.ebay.com the American Internet version of eBay.

On the left hand side of the home page you’ll see a heading ‘Categories’ where you’ll need to click on the ‘Business & Industrial’ link (about the sixth link down from the top).

That will take you to a whole page of links to even more categories. You’ll then have to look in the bottom right hand corner of the page under ‘Other Industries’. You may need to scroll down a little to view this section.

Click on ‘Websites and other businesses for sale’. This will take you to the first page of many where you can view all the websites that are available to bid on.

At the time of writing there were over seven thousand sites for sale.

You can pick them up for just a few pounds each, don’t go for those that are thousands of pounds each just yet … you’ll need some practice at first.

Have a real good browse. See what’s available and visit some of the sites to see how they operate. Also read the terms and conditions of each auction you’re interested in so that you know exactly what you’re bidding on. Many sites are under a ‘Buy Now’ logo which means you don’t need to wait to see if your bid is high enough, you literally, buy NOW, usually for a very low price.

Once you see a number of website businesses that you feel you’d like to bid on, mark them down in your ‘Favourites’ on eBay, this will keep an eye on it for you and let you know when the auction is closing. If you have any questions about any site, simply ask the seller by clicking on the appropriate link and they should reply promptly.

Meanwhile, if you have not got a PayPal account, open one. It’s free. www.paypal.com or www.paypal.co.uk for everything UK-ised, if you’d prefer.

PayPal will allow you to accept credit cards (sales can increase by up to 800% when you can take credit cards) and everything is converted from US dollars to pounds sterling for you, automatically, when selling or buying on eBay.

Pretty well everyone who buys or sells on eBay has a PayPal account and you should too. It’s safe, secure and instant.

When looking for a website to purchase, make sure it’s about a subject you’re interested in. It’s no good selling Christian books if you aren’t remotely interested in Christian books. However, if you’re just buying to immediately sell on, then that’s fine if you’re confident that people will bid for it.

Check any sites that you purchase are working perfectly before you sell on.

Also, watch out for sites that charge you a monthly fee to keep your service going. Rather, buy sites that are a once only payment and nothing else to pay. You may only get a commission of, say, 50% on each sale of an item but at least you don’t have to part with more cash.

The sites that are ideal to start you off in business are dropship businesses. You are not responsible for the inventory or the delivery of goods … it’s all up to the Prime Source to do this on your behalf. Once you make a sale, simply pass the details on to them and they’ll process the order for you.

Visit http://www.business4anyone.com. This site would be good to subscribe to if you’d like to become an affiliate in things ‘home business’. You would get a site exactly the same but you would own it. This particular one is mine and I can choose any domain name I wish to advertise it and then redirect my customers to the one above .. which I plan to do very soon. It’s brand new and I’m just starting to promote it.

Having a site like this is the idea way to run a business if you’re not able to build your own website or print books or make software etc.. This is ALL done for you by the Prime Source. Visit the above link, take a look around and see what you think.

You should have your own PayPal account so that any orders received will be paid straight into your PayPal account the next day. You can, literally, earn money while you sleep.

Obviously, you won’t earn any income if nobody knows your site exists but the marketing techniques that you’ll need to drive people to your site are supplied when you buy it. There are useful articles, free software and plenty of ‘how to’ reports to help you.

Advertising in this publication will also help, of course.

At the time of writing it was around three hundred dollars to buy this particular site but they often have special offers so, take a look around, and see what you can find.

Once you’ve paid this start up fee, you never have to pay anything again and you’ll earn between 50% - 75% of everything you sell.

The above website is for you to keep and run yourself but, by looking at the auctions on eBay, you’ll be able to find similar sites where, instead of keeping it, you simply re-list it on eBay and sell it at a profit.

Finally, you may want to purchase a site but create your own product to sell from it. This is a great way of earning 100% of everything you sell … it’s your product so you keep all the money. Allow others to affiliate to this site and give them, say, 50% of their sales. Other people will have lists of customers that you’ll never reach but, through them, you can. Think of the extra earnings by doing just this.

Google ‘Pay Per Click’ ads and setting up auctions for your product on eBay are other ways to earn quickly and efficiently.

There are many ‘hidden’ extra ways to earn a living via the Internet and this is another one of them…. but don’t tell anyone, it’s your secret way of getting in and making the bigger bucks. Your neighbours will wonder where you’re getting all your money from.

Drive Free Traffic To Your Website By Writing Articles

One of the best ways to drive traffic to your website is by writing articles. Getting your own articles written, distributed and published on the Internet is one of the very best Internet marketing techniques in existence.

Once you have become an author of an article, you become an instant authority. When visitors locate and read your article they could obtain some useful information from it. They would most probably appreciate you. When appreciation turns into trust, it is very likely that would click the link in your article resource box to visit your website to get more information.

Chances of them signing up with you in one of your recommended business opportunities or buy one of your recommended products would be greatly enhanced.

The question is how to write the relevant articles which might demand some of your effort and time?

If you are good in writing and enjoy doing it, you might decide to write your own articles. Otherwise you could join an article cooperative to get access to private label articles OR hire someone to write articles for you.

Let’s discuss the differences of these 3 possibilities:

    1) Do Your Own Research and Write Your Own Articles.

The main advantage of writing your own articles is that it's "free" and it would give you a sense of pride in accomplishment. You might enjoy writing articles to share your experience in Internet online business. The downside is that it'd take up some of your time to conduct some research work.

    2) Join An Article Cooperative to Get Pre-written Articles.

A recommended article cooperative is InfoGoRound where you could get hundreds of pre-written articles for a small enrollment fee. From these you could choose those discussing subjects related to the content of your website. These are referred to as the "Private label articles” which you have full permission to use and also add your own name and article resource box to the article as the author.

    3) Hire Someone to Write Articles For You.

If you are not comfortable writing your own articles or if you find it too much a hassle especially when you're new to this business or if you do not fancy pre-written articles due to lack of originality, you could use an article ghost writing service such as Just Articles to put your own ideas into writing.

For a relatively small fee you can get your articles written very quickly.

For article marketing on the Internet, articles written with between 400-700 words would suffice. It goes without saying that your articles must be relevant to your Internet business. Hence topic of your articles should be related to: "working at home", "home based business", "Internet marketing", "making money online", "promoting a website", etc.

The next question is how can you ensure that your articles will reach the maximum amount of potential web visitors?

Below are some routes you can use:

    1) Submit to Article Directories

The best place to submit your articles are Article Directories. Many publishers of websites, blogs, and ezines visit the sites of these Directories. Hence your articles will be quickly exposed to people who have a large amount of traffic.

    2) Submit to Article Lists/Newsletters

The next step is to submit your articles to article lists such as newsletters on Yahoo and Topica. Articles from such sources are normally better received by publishers. Hence when a submission is done by you via an article list, publishers have more confidence in your articles and would very likely use them.

    3) Approach Individual Related Websites

Many Websites focus on providing valuable information and educational materials to their readers. You could submit your articles to these sites if your articles are relevant to what they need. It is best that you only contact sites where the readers would have an interest in the topic of your article.

    4) Search Through Ezine Directories

Once your articles have been submitted to directories and article lists as mentioned earlier, you could start contacting individual publishers such as the publishers of ezines that are related to your topic. Choose those who accept articles and write to them and convince them that your articles would be of value for their purpose.

    5) Give The Articles to Your New Affiliate members

To help your affiliates especially the newly "recruited" ones, you could give them your articles as a way to help promote your site. They could either publish them as they are or they could substitute your link with theirs in the resource box of the article. They would be impressed by such generous gesture from you.

In conclusion, submitting your articles and getting them re-published on others' websites and newsletters/ezines is one of the most powerful Internet marketing strategies. Your articles will then start working as a free advertisement for you forever. And you do not have to pay even a dime for such advertising space. You will continue to enjoy free traffic driven to your website for a long, long time!

How to Get the Ranking You Always Wanted!

Is your web site well ranked (In the top ten search results) in the results? If not, you need to read this and get the ranking you always dreamed of getting with your web site! I will show you how to get your web site a top ten ranking in the search engines with these few easy-to-do steps.

Site Design - The web site's structure will decide how the spiders read your web site and the speed of them indexing the web pages. There should be more text content then HTML content. You should avoid programs such as FrontPage or Dreamweaver. Such programs will add coding that isn't necessary and also they may add coding errors. The pages should validate and be usable in all of todays leading browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape, etc.). Also look at your web site in a text browser, this will give you good idea of what the spiders see and if it can work with a text browser, it can work with just about any other browser.

Stay away from using Java, Flash, Java script, scripting such as that can trap the spiders, which will result in them not to index your content. Go external with scripting languages if you need them that bad, use something such as CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). Your web site should respond almost instantly to requests. If you get into 3 to 4 seconds delay until it loads, you need to cut down on the images and overall web page size. Keep the web page under 20k if at all possible, but keep it at least at 5k. Don't use frames, neither the visitors nor the search engines like it and shouldn't be used for any reason.

Content - Web pages should have 200 to 1500 words. Put your target keywords in bold, underline, heading and italics text. Spiders reads web pages top to bottom and they also know that the main keyword should appear in the first few sentences. Which means your targeted keywords should appear high on the page, within the first few words, also they should be in the middle and towards the end of the articles. The keyword density should be between 5 and 15%, but don't lose sleep over it, just make sure you get a density of 5%.

Meta and Title Tags - Meta tags are thought by many SEO experts to have little impact, If any at all, but it's still recommended, just in case it's still a factor. The description tag is still sometimes used in the search engines as description of the web site, so try to be creative and describe your web page's content and not just for the search engines, but for the visitors as well. Also remember not to use the same description tag for each web page, some search engines may think the page is too much like the other pages and end up banning you.

You should place your top keywords in keyword tag, keep it to 5 to 15, make sure your most important keyword appears first though. The title tag is very important part of the web page. Both the search engines and visitors will see this, so be smart and creative with it. Try to have your most important keyword to appear first and keep it short, there isn't any need for 20 or 30 words to appear in the title tag.

Links - Look around your keyword sector in DMOZ or Yahoo!, you will find many web sites that are useful to your visitors and to your ranking. Try to exchange links with one web site a day. Almost every topic has an on-topic directory, go submit to them. Don't forget DMOZ, Yahoo! or other big name directories. When you receive requests for link exchanges, check the site out before giving the OK. Check to see if they are using any spam techniques and make sure they are listed in the search engines. Also make sure it's a web site similar to your web site's topic.

One way backlinks are the best backlinks a web site can get because most reciprocal link exchanges are only for link popularity and search engines are aware of this growing problem. But they are hard to get, one way to get them is by buying them or an other is by writing articles and allowing others to use them on their own web site for content, along with a link back to your web site.

Insite Cross Links - Link to on topic content across your web site. If a web page is about games, then make sure it links to PS2 games and Xbox games web page. Web pages shouldn't be no more then 3 clicks away from the home page. They should be close to the root as possible.

Submission - Once you have insured you have done all the above, you can submit to the search engines, such as Google, Yahoo!, MSN and Ask Jeeves. Really, if you get enough backlinks you won't need to submit to any of them and instead they will find you. There is some debate that submitting to the search engines instead of letting them find you can hurt your ranking, so you may choose to sit back and let them find you. Also note, that by submitting will not speed it up any and in fact the fastest way to get in the index, is by getting backlinks.

    Winning Tips to Start Blogging

Web logging or blogging to many is one of the newest ways for net users to express and air their opinions, ideas, insights, and just about anything that they want to share with other people who may find their sentiments interesting or in some means similar to what they have been experiencing. Web logging is a potentially powerful feature that comes in very dynamic forms and styles. The manner that you create your own web log depends on your own creativity and ingenuity. But generally, the following tips below are some of the most common steps that web loggers take.

 Think about what you want to write. Whether you are writing for the passion of writing or you want to educate or inform other people, or probably do business with your web log, the fact remains that you have to think about the topic that you wish to write. By knowing what you want to write, it is going to be a lot easier for you to start writing the web log.

 If you have insufficient knowledge about what you want to write, then it is suggested that you make a research and seek for additional help with what you will be writing. People who first started working on their own web logs did the same thing. After all, it is never wrong to seek help from people whom you know are far knowledgeable than you are.

 Make sure that you come up with web log contents that is both interesting to you and the potential readers that you will be having. The web log that you create is not solely going to be for your eyes only. It is, as a matter of fact, going to become a common and public domain once it is launched on the net. Essentially, then, you need to make a log that is going to be of interest then to other people as well.

The Cheapest Traffic Generation Method In The World Yet Over 90% Of Marketers Ignore It. Why?

Did you know you are able to create an additional income stream using your existing Google Adsense account, a simple website and a few brief articles? You can use free article repositories to produce healthy profits if you have the right strategy and use the proper tools. It’s a great opportunity that requires little ongoing effort, creating a passive source of income.

The basic strategy can be outlined like this: One writes articles on subjects related to a high-paying keyword. These articles are then submitted to a series of article repositories where they can be found by surfers and picked up by other webmasters for use on their sites. Included with the article is a “resource box” that includes some biographical information about the author and a link to the author’s site. That site will contain additional information about the same subject matter and will feature Adsense ad blocks that will display ads related to the high-paying keyword. Each time a visitor comes from your article to the designated page, they may click on at least one of those ads, creating immediate profits for the article author.

The reason this technique holds so much promise is the viral nature of the free articles. These article sites are frequented by scores of webmasters who are looking for good content to use on their sites. In exchange for the free content, they agree to provide a link back to the author. Each article might find itself popping up on a series of sites. By placing an article in a free article repository, it can achieve remarkable exposure quickly. Content is king, they say, and webmasters are always searching for articles on hot topics.

In addition to the viral exposure, surfers may also directly find the articles interested in the subject matter. You can consider the article repository sites as remote hosts for your content, as each article does contain that important link back to your site.

When people click your link, they will be delivered to your site that covers the same topic area. Your page will be designed primarily as a means of providing some additional subject matter information and will feature Adsense ads. This topic area is carefully selected in order produce maximum value from every eventual Adsense click.

Basically, those adopting this strategy are putting the market’s unquenchable thirst for content to use as a marketing tool for a site monetized with Adsense ads. The results can be stunning.

Imagine, for a moment, that you have produced two articles on a keyword that is generating a very healthy ten dollars per click on relevant Adsense ads. The two articles are submitted to ten different article directories. Within a short period of time, it is not unthinkable that the articles will end up appearing on well over a hundred different sites. Additionally, you are likely to learn that information-hungry surfers are discovering the articles on the repository site itself. You have successfully managed to “advertise” on all of those sites simply by producing two articles.

Now, let’s say that from all of the people visiting your site from the link embedded in your articles’ resourced boxes, only one person a day actually clicks on an Adsense ad. This, obviously, is a pretty conservative estimate. Still, if you average only one click per day on a ten-dollar ad, you will generate around three hundred dollars per month. That’s three hundred dollars in exchange for producing and distributing only two articles.

Consider what would happen if you tackled five different hot keywords each month using this strategy? Suddenly, you would be generating over one thousand five hundred dollars per month in exchange for pretty minimal efforts. It’s a strategy that can be multiplied again and again. If you start thinking about what happens if you can manage a few extra clicks each day, the possibilities are truly staggering.

Just thinking about the profit potential of this strategy probably has you ready to begin your article-based Adsense campaign immediately. However, there is a way to make it even more successful. The hypothetical scenario we outlined is based on fairly limited distribution of your articles. Imagine what might happen if you were able to submit your article to hundreds of locations instead of just a few. The potential financial gains are multiplied!

The idea of submitting your articles to hundreds of locations might seem cumbersome and time-consuming. If you were to manually submit your articles to all of the available article repositories, it would take so much time you would not have a chance to do anything else. Luckily, the smart article-based marketer can add a tool to his or her arsenal that will make submitting articles to a wide array of locations efficient and easy.

Software packages are available that will allow you to submit your articles to all of the field’s major players with just a few keystrokes and mouse clicks. Article Submitter Pro available from http://www.article-submitterpro.com is one such package. Article Submitter Pro automates the article submission process and will send your articles to over two hundred different locations. It’s a lightweight and easy-to-use program that gets truly amazing submission results. Anyone serious about using article marketing as a means to awesome Adsense profits should consider finding an automation tool in order to get their articles distributed as widely and quickly as possible.

The best part of all of this is that once the initial work is done, the income is continually produced without additional efforts. After construction of the original site, production of a few articles (and, of course, you can do more articles if you’d like in order to improve the number of visitors to your site), and distribution of the articles, there is no requirement for additional work. Your site will continue to earn money on a regular basis without any additional effort. It truly is a passive income stream.

Search Engine Optimization And The Magic Fairy Dust

There is only one thing that all webmasters agree upon... They all want to be at the top of the search engine results for search terms that will drive traffic and consumers to their website.

The truth is that the search engines are like our childhood game of King Of The Hill. Only one person can be at the top of the hill and the top of the search results. Only ten websites can be on page one of the search results. When a new website moves into the top ten, another must be removed.

For any given search term at any given time, there are only ten web pages on page one of the search results, and there are millions of web pages that did not make page one, who may or may not catch a few stragglers from the search engines.

How Can A Website Break Into The Top Ten?

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is an industry that has sprung up around the concept of helping their clients improve their rankings in the search engine results.

When you talk to SEO professionals, they generally point to a two-pronged approach to search ranking optimization. A website owner needs to optimize their on-site real estate for the search engines, and they need to build inbound links to their website.

    On-Site Search Optimization Challenges

The trick with on-site search optimization is that you must cater to multiple audiences on your website.

    * You must provide simple navigation and an attractive interface to the human visitor;

    * You must provide good sales copy to your human visitors, for the purpose of converting them from shoppers to buyers;

    * You must provide text copy for the search engines to read; and

    * You must optimize your content to help the search engines know what topics and keywords they should pay attention, so that they can give their users the right web page for the right search terms.

A web page that draws good search rankings is useless if the web page cannot convert the human visitor to a buyer. Many website owners get caught up in the process of optimizing a web page to get it to the top of the search results, and they forget that the human visitor knows where the Back Button is in his or her browser. Once your visitor has hit the Back Button, they will go to someone else's website and buy from them, instead of you.

Most website owners have the alternate problem. They consistently convert a significant number of visitors to buyers, but they have to rely on various forms of paid advertising to get visitors to their websites, since they do not rank in the search engines.

I recently spoke with an individual who spends ,000 per month on pay-per-click advertising to get targeted traffic to his website. He said he consistently earns back his money, but he was still looking for a better way to get ranked in the search engines, so he joined my client list.

    On-Site Search Engine Optimization Basics

According to the search engine companies, there are more than one thousand calculations that determine how well a website will rank in their search engine result pages (SERPs).

The Google engineers are fond of saying that if you build your website for human beings instead of search engines, then your website should rank well in their algorithms. To a certain degree, this is a good strategy.

Think about how magazines are constructed:

The Table Of Contents shows story titles, brief descriptions, and page numbers telling you where you can find a story.

On the story page, the title will be in big, bold font. Sometimes, the magazine will include a brief blurb about the story, in italics or font that is a bit bigger than the story font.

Pictures support the story with captions that further develop the story, by describing the picture.

Major subsections of the story have their own subheadings. And, the primary body of the story is in regular plain text, with only an occasional bolded or italicized word or phrase.

By analyzing the title and other large text on the page, a person who is flipping through the pages of a magazine can quickly assess the story content and make the decision as to whether they want to read the full story.

In the most simplistic way, this is how the search engines analyze a websites' content to decide which web page will best serve their users' needs.

Off-Site Search Engine Marketing (SEM) Basics

Since the inception of Google, and with Yahoo and MSN recently, the number and quality of links pointing to a website play a significant role in determining how well a web page will rank in the search results.

I have heard people suggest that as much as 75% of the value given to a web page in the search results is based solely on the number and quality of links pointing to a web page. I tend to believe a more conservative number (50.1%) will apply.

Inbound Links Are More Important Than Page Content

To prove this point, type "click here" without the quotes into Google, Yahoo and MSN and check the Adobe pages that come up in the search results: #1 in Google, #2 in Yahoo, and #1 in MSN. When you pull up those pages, search the page to find the individual words "click" or "here" in the text of those pages. They are not there. This has happened because millions of people have linked to these Adobe pages with the embedded anchor text, "click here".

Next, let's analyze those specific web pages from the perspective of each of the search engines:

    * Google's #1 result - Google PageRank 8. (www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html) Links to this web page: according to Google (31); according to Yahoo (nearly 12 million); according to MSN (6,400).

    * Yahoo's #2 result - Google PageRank 10. (www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer) Links to this web page: Google (15,200); Yahoo (700 thousand); MSN (32).

    * MSN's #1 result - Google PageRank 8. (www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash) Links to this web page: Google (0); Yahoo (2.9 million); MSN (778).

On Google's top result, they show 31 inbound links total for that web page. But, Yahoo claims that there are more than 12 million links to this page. That is a huge difference.

On Yahoo's #2 result, MSN gives 32 links, Google gives 15,000 links, and Yahoo claims it has 700 thousand links! That is another huge difference between the link counts from the search engines.

On MSN's #1 result, MSN shows a strong link count, but still nowhere near Yahoo's 2.9 million links. But, how does a web page with zero links in Google get a PageRank 8?

    What Do These Numbers Mean?

Google has always said that they will never show us all of the links that we have pointing to our websites, because anything we can see in the public search results, our competitors can see also. So, for me it really is no surprise that we cannot see all of the links that point to Adobe pages, or to the links we have created that point to our clients and ourselves, by querying the search engines.

Also, the sheer numbers of inbound links do not rule the roost. Google's #1 result (PR8) is actually shown in Google, before Yahoo's #2 (PR10) result.

The Proof For Link Building Is In The Search Engine Rankings

Recently, a fellow who works as a SEO "professional" told me that be believed my link building system was a sham.

I showed him that on the top 51 keyword phrases we use to market our original commercial website, we had 11 number one results, 31 top five results, 34 top ten results, 47 top thirty results, and 51 top 100 results within the Google search results. Additionally, it was shown that only three of those results competed with fewer than one million search results according to Google, with the remaining 48 pages competing with one million to 533 million pages.

Ole boy tore up Google trying to track how it was possible for me to have accomplished what I claimed. He finally concluded that since Google would not show HIM how I was able to rank so well in their search engine results, then I must have been lying.

According to Yahoo, we have over 12,000 links from third-party websites. According to our site statistics, we received traffic from more than 16,000 unique web pages during 2006. And Google still swears that we only have 42 inbound links to our website!

    Magic Fairy Dust

My nemesis concluded that since HE could not prove through Google how I was successful in getting good search rankings, then I could not have accomplished such results by the methods I claimed.

    Okay, I admit it.

I used the exact same method that Adobe used to get to the top of Google's search engine rankings. I have a pocket full of magic fairy dust. Whenever, I do not like how my websites rank in the search engines, I sprinkle my magic fairy dust on my modem.

If you don't like where you are ranked in the search engines, then I suggest you forego the search engine optimization companies altogether and instead run over to the corner store to get your own magic fairy dust. You might have to shop around a bit, but it is out there.
